February 2021: Inspiration

There is something completely arbitrary about turning another decade older. It seems like an accomplishment yet all I have had to do is exist for another ten years. Another ten trips around the Sun… Yet society has always been run by the motion of the stars, even when we threaten the very sight of them. Nonetheless, why not use this event as an excuse to start something new? So here it goes…

Welcome to EagleAstro! There is a lot of projects I have envisioned for this community. At the very least it’ll keep my projects organized for myself to enjoy in the future…

I plan for this website to focus on the enjoyment of astrophotography, the night sky, and the inevitable travel it takes to find that perfect sky. I hope to learn just as much as my readers along the way. Ultimately I hope to leave the readers excited to look up at the sky at the constant celestial events, and to impart the importance of preserving the sky for future generations.

Each month we will showcase a new project/video (mistakes included, they are just as useful to learn from!) to showcase an area/event happening in the night sky. I will try to not only show some amazing pictures (that’s half the fun right?) but also deep-dive into what we are seeing, written at many different levels of assumed knowledge. As well as periodically reviewing new equipment and sharing general setup ideas. I will also be taking input on ideas for future projects!

Some useful features of each month’s post will be:

  1. “So you want to learn more?” - A breakdown of each month’s topics and external articles for those wanting to explore further

  2. Equipment specifications and setup - For those who are new to the hobby and are looking to recreate the same setup for imaging

  3. Upcoming Events in space - Ideas for you to practice imaging ideal targets in the sky

Also, in the spirit of sharing this hobby I also intend to donate a portion of any proceeds to organizations that promote dark sky locations and combat light pollution (the sickening orange skyglow you see near cities and urban sprawl).

Now…. with a whole universe above our heads…. where should we look next?
